ブライアン・マッカーネル：７年前より米国カリフォルニア州サンフランシスコベイエリアにて幼稚園の教師として幼児英語教育に携わり現在に至る。教師になる以前は日本で約２年間英会話講師として子供から大人までさまざまなレベルの生徒に英語を教える。

日本滞在中に現在の妻靖子と出会い結婚。２００６年７月には長男靖士・海（セイジ・カイ）が誕生。今年３月には次男泰・凌人（タイ・リョウト）が誕生予定。

２００９年夏には日本移住も計画中。

家族や親戚が世界各国に点在していることもあり、様々な文化の影響を受けるファミリーとして、日本やアメリカおよびその他の異文化の大切さを子供たちに伝えるよう努力している。この「キャプテンカイの大冒険」を通して、家族だけでなくたくさんの子供たちに語学を学ぶことの楽しさをを伝えられればと願っている。

For the past seven years, Brian McConnell has taught Kindergarten in the San Francisco Bay Area of California, USA. Before teaching in the United States, Brian taught conversational English courses to adults and children in Yokohama, Japan, for almost 2 years.

While living in Japan, Brian met the love of his life, Yasuko. After moving back to the United States, Brian and Yasuko married and began building their family. In July of 2006, their first son, Sage Kai McConnell, was born. Their second son, Ty McConnell, is due to be born in March of 2009.

They plan to move back to Japan in the Summer of 2009.

As a multicultural family, they enjoy preserving the cultural traditions from Japan and America. With family members living in other parts of the world, they strive to learn about cultures beyond their own. Brian and Yasuko stress the importance of making learning fun. "The Adventures of Captain Kai" is Brian's way of sharing some of the enjoyment he's had with his family and students, learning Japanese and English.
